How much is a typical mtl implementation likely to cost?
Costs are dependent upon many factors and we can only provide guidelines without entering into a dialogue with a potential customer.

Costs are governed by the user population, the combination of software modules that are to be utilised, and how much assistance in the form of implementation services a user will need. SodalitaS is priced upon either a named-user or on an unlimited-user basis. Typically the breakpoint means that customers needing more than 20 named-user licences will select the unlimited-user option. As access via the Internet becomes more important then an unlimited-user licence is the only logical option.

Projects where the customer is able to stay close to the standard models can be completed for a project cost from about £40,000. However, if a more consultative and tailored approach is requested, then this will grow depending on the level of training, consultancy and development services.

As a guideline, our implementations typically range from about £50,000 to £250,000 total project expenditure. If you would like to receive a detailed estimate of a SodalitaS implementation for your organisation, please email Phil Crouch at philc@millertech.co.uk.

The package licences are keenly priced. However, it is mtl’s policy not to take short cuts on project control, training and implementation effort and we allow a sensible level of resources for these areas.

How long will a typical mtl implementation take?
The answer to this question depends more on the availability of the customer’s staff than constraints applied by mtl. Relatively standard implementations can be completed in 3-4 months, Larger projects tend to take 6 to 9 months depending upon the degree of tailoring and how many different modules are to be introduced.

  Why should I choose mtl?
We believe we possess five key differentiators:

We are experts in the Not for Profit Sector.
We are responsive to each customer’s unique needs and tailor the solution to meet these needs.
We have chosen the right technology (ORACLE) to provide a robust, large volume, but flexible solution. Oracle has proven to be the ideal technology choice for web-enabled software solutions
We are committed to establishing a long-term relationship.
mtl has been one of very few stable and consistent performers in the NFP sector with many software suppliers having come and gone during mtl’s 21-year history. mtl offers low-risk solutions while taking advantage of the latest proven technology.

  How do mtl approach training?
All mtl training is tailored to suit a customer’s individual needs. Training is carried out using the customer’s version of the software, using sample data supplied by the customer, and is backed by training manuals tailored to reflect that software.

Our training provision will be planned with the client; however it is typically aimed at three types of user.

Systems Administrator - in depth training including, system maintenance, housekeeping, and security.

Senior Users - also in depth training often concentrating on specific application modules dependent on the user’s specific area of responsibility.

Occasional users - often provided in a workshop environment.

Training is carried out either at mtl’s London Training Centre or at the customer’s site.

What are the typical steps of a mtl project?
Once a contract is awarded mtl would allocate a Project Manager and an initial project “ramp-up” meeting would jointly agree an outline project plan which would typically include the following tasks

Clearly define milestones and deliverables.
Define the measures you will apply to the milestones and deliverables.
Carry out a “gap analysis” to identify and confirm thie areas needing tailoring or (more rarely) bespoke development from scratch.
Analyse the sources of any data transfer.
Map any data transfer.
Trial data transfer.
Test data transfer.
Software development and testing by mtl.
User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
End user training.
Final data transfer.
Go Live.

How do you avoid the risks of implementing new systems?
The answer to this question is a combination of three factors:

Experience
Resources
Commitment

mtl has 8 specialist project managers, all of which have well over 10 years experience in the IT industry, many with over 10 years service with mtl. These are backed by a team of 40 software analysts, developers and trainers.

mtl has 51 employees. Apart from a Sales Director and an administrator/secretary the remaining staff are all involved in the analysis, design, development, implementation and support of membership and associated systems. We often compete with larger organisations but few, if any have as many staff dedicated to this market sector.

We offer a range of comprehensive project implementation and ongoing support services encompassing:

Project Management Service
Project Initiation Procedures
Specification production and refinement
Training programmes
System installation/implementation
Acceptance testing
Consultancy
Ongoing software development and support for all proposed products
Single point of Contact for all software

The aim of these services is to provide a controlled, low-risk project environment to ensure the successful implementation and ongoing development and rollout.
